My name is Ana Benavides Canales and I am the proud owner of ABC THERAPY (ACADEMIC BASED COMMUNICATION THERAPY) and lead Speech-Language Pathologist. As a former kindergarten teacher, reading interventionist, and mother of four I have dedicated my career to bridging the worlds of "speech" and "literacy". Since 2014, ABC Therapy been committed to servicing students across the coastal bend through school contracts; however, we are thrilled to announce that we are now offering private therapy sessions as well.
At ABC Therapy, we understand that every child is unique, and we strongly believe in taking a personalized approach to therapy. By closely collaborating with educators and families, we ensure that our services are tailored to meet each child's specific needs, goals, and interests.

At Academic Based Communication Therapy, PLLC, we are dedicated to supporting the communication needs of children through both school-based services and private therapy. As certified speech-language pathologists, we partner with school districts to provide contract services that include therapy, evaluations, and collaboration with educators to support student success in the classroom.

In private practice, we work closely with families to deliver individualized speech therapy tailored to each child’s unique strengths and needs. We believe in empowering parents with the knowledge, tools, and strategies to support their child’s communication development at home. From understanding evaluation results to carrying over skills between sessions, we guide parents every step of the way so they feel confident and supported.

    ABC Therapy is a small practice dedicated to providing exceptional contract services to Texas schools. Every member of our team takes a vested interest in the schools and programs we support. We go beyond just filling a position to create a long-term partnership that aligns with the program’s mission and values. School contract services are offered in-person and via telepractice.

  • If you would like to speak with a therapist about your concerns, book a FREE consultation. This consists of a 15-20 minute phone call where you can talk to one of our SLPs about concerns without committing to an evaluation.

  • Speech therapists work with children in four main areas: articulation (speech sounds, intelligibility), language (receptive-expressive), pragmatics (social language), and stuttering/fluency. Reading intervention services are also offered and provided by specialists.

  • Our clinic is located in Robstown, TX. We proudly serve schools/families across the state of Texas/Coastal Bend. We are a mobile speech therapy practice that provides therapy at our child-friendly clinic, in homes, daycares, schools, and via telehealth.

  • Yes! We are currently accepting Blue Cross Blue Shield and Superior Medicaid. We also accept private pay and provide Super Bills (documentation that you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement of services).

  • ABC Therapy accepts all major credit cards, checks and cash.

  • ABC Therapy will call your insurance company to verify insurance before you schedule your first session or evaluation so you can make an informed decision about any out-of-pocket expenses.

  • Yes. Once an evaluation has been scheduled, our office will provide you with a link to a series of documents that ABC Therapy needs completed prior to your child’s evaluation. We request that all paperwork be completed in full and returned to us at least 3 days prior to your appointment. If there is a delay in filling out paperwork, your appointment may have to be rescheduled to a more convenient time.
